Attorney Referrals
If you want to focus your practice on areas other than personal injury, medical malpractice or criminal defense or have a case that you simply are not comfortable handling, for any reason, please consider referring those cases to our office. Whether it is a personal injury, complex medical malpractice or criminal case we are passionate about our work and the service we provide our clients. We will fight to protect the rights of your clients and ensure that they are treated fairly by the wrongdoer and insurance company. Your client remains your client and our satisfaction comes from gaining yours, and your client’s, trust. If you refer a case to our firm you can rest assured that your client will be provided with the service, resources and aggressive representation needed to obtain justice for them.
In regard to the division of the fee, we generally agree to the industry standard of one third of the fee. Our goal, however, is to develop a relationship with you so we can continue to grow our firm. With this in mind we will gladly work with you to come to an agreement that you feel is fair, reasonable and mutually beneficial to you, the client and our firm. Anytime there is a division of fee we have certain ethical obligations and we take those very seriously. Specifically, Rule 1.5(e) requires that any time there is a division of a fee the client must be advised of that in writing and the client must not object. We take the needed steps to ensure that these obligations are met to protect the client, you and our firm.
We will gladly provide updates to you about the progress and developments of the case or if you prefer we can simply contact you when the case is resolved – it is your choice. If you have been in practice less than ten years and are referring a case to us because you are unsure of how to handle that type of case, we will happily keep you involved with the case and take the time to discuss the details of the case with you so you can learn how to handle that type of case in the future.
If you have any questions concerning our firm, the types of cases we handle or how we handle the referral process, please feel free to Attorney Ferry directly at 860-827-0880.
